The Kishu Nanko tree from which the ume for this local delicacy are taken grows locally in Wakayama prefecture Japan and has been protected and regarded as a local treasure ever since its discovery in the Edo period. The juice is extracted and stored away and left to mature for up to a year. After which it is fermented in yeast and sugar to produce a sweet aromatic umeshu.

この地元の珍味の梅をとった紀州南光の木は、和歌山県で地元で育ち、江戸時代に発見されて以来、保護され、地元の宝物と見なされてきました。 果汁は抽出されて保管され、最長1年間熟成されます。 その後、酵母と砂糖で発酵させ、甘い香りの梅酒を作ります。
